To call Percee P – the “legendary lyricist of the subterranean” – ahead of his time doesn’t even begin to do justice to his legacy. Even though Perseverance is his first album, it was nineteen years ago that he first blessed vinyl with his brain-melting rapid-fire rap style that many still haven’t caught up to…

Showbiz – The Unkut Interview
Photos by richdirection Show is Bronx rap royalty. Besides his stellar work with Andre The Giant, he’s blessed his Diggin’ In The Crates crew (O.C., Big L, Diamond D, Lord Finesse, Fat Joe) with countless classic tracks, and produced winners for legends like KRS-One and Big Pun all the way up to today’s finest such…
Lord Ali Ba-Ski – The Unkut Interview
One of the unsung heroes of the original Flavor Unit was Lord Ali Ba-Ski (aka The Human Body Chart), who wrecked shit something terrible on the 45 King Presents…The Flavor Unit album. I always wondered why he didn’t drop any other records after that album, and after I did a post about him as part…
Kurious Jorge – The Unkut Interview
The Constipated Monkey album was the shit when it first came out. V.I.C. was still rolling with the Beatnuts, and as a result they delivered some of their finest work for “Jorge of the Projects” to kick it over. Now Kurious is preparing a new album with MF Doom after an extended break from releasing…
Swigga aka L-Swift Interview (Natural Elements)
Following-up Keir‘s interview with A-Butta, here’s a piece contributed by Idris “Intifada” Robinson from Vexed Perspectives: During the ’90s, Swigga went by L-Swift and composed a third of the explosive rhyme trio Natural Elements. As L-Swift, Swigga released a string of underground classics both as a solo artist and with Natural Elements. Natural Elements eventually…
Joe Fatal – The Unkut Interview, Part 1
Back in December of 2004, I wrote a little piece about MF Grimm and “Live At The BBQ” which resulted in this comment a month later: pudgee can kiss my ass, plus did he ever confess in the source that he was the gay rapper? j.f. Comment by Joe Fatal 01.19.05 Naturally I had to…
“Lynched” Video Banned By YouTube
After getting over 5,000 views in one day, YouTube removed this “anti-cooning” video from Staten Island’s NYOIL. I guess Google are throwing their weight around over there already, huh? Sounds like the Black Bastards cover controversy all over again… Dude’s not biting his tongue for no one by the looks of things, as the clip…
Bud Bundy – Top 5 Dead Or Alive
In terms of “white guys from sitcoms who also rap”, then David Faustino is clearly king of the heap. While he lacks the distinction of having been dissed by the Metal-Faced Villian, he was part of one of the greatest TV shows ever,1 and his one and only rap release contained such gems as: “I…
Mobb Deep and Wu-Tang CD-ROM action
There was a brief period where Loud records wasted a bunch of cash putting out Enhanced CD’s back in 1996, when the internets was still really shitty and Quicktime and Flash had recently come out. Xzibit‘s first album, Mobb Deep‘s Hell On Earth and the Wu-Tang Forever double album all got “special treatment”, but the…
Ultramagnetic Demos
A little something passed on to me from Ross F: I was just reading you’re Ultra reunion post and thought you might be interested in something I acquired from eBay recently: A demo EP with the four tracks “(NYC Critic) Mix It Down”, “Baby I’m Mad”, “Make It Rain” and “Who I Am”. The seller…
New Marley Marl – A Double Dose
It seems Marley Marl has been busy lately, and while there are plenty of stories about credit disputes / ghost producing floating around these days, you can’t deny that after all these years he’s still bringing that gritty “project sound” to everything he touches.
Lost Ultra Tracks Part 2 – Clear Versions
Just when you thought the Ced Gee Special was over and done, I received a little something in my inbox from a guy calling himself Tim Frog. He sent me versions of the unrelesed mixes of “MC Champions” (sadly it cuts out before MC James gets on) and “Message From The Boss” that are a…
