Earlier this week I was enjoying a few beers at a bar (set to the soothing sounds of a four-hour Japanese jazz and soul set courtesy of CRC representative Callum), and was soon joined by my old mate Debonaire, who proceeded to drop a bomb on me when he announced that he’s decided to shut-up shop over at GRR.
Originally started out in 2006 to release music by his crew Low Budget, the label soon expanded into reissues, remixes and original projects (produced by Debonaire) with nineties rap stalwarts such as O.C., Omniscence and Mathematik. Not confined to only vinyl releases, GRR also partnered with Dope Folks to provide CD and tape versions of previously vaulted material from Young Zee, Trendz of Culture and Stezo.
If you missed out on any of these releases previously, GRR are running a closing-down sale with a the final copies of these limited-edition tape, CD and vinyl pieces. I’ll try to tee-up an interview with Debonaire in the near future to discuss the ups and downs of fifteen years of cranky rappers, impatient customers and the occasional legal threat!

that’s nad news. this guy’s a dope producer, the ep he did w/ ocee was a definite highlight of the last 10 years, and the cd editions of the shelved young zee and omniscence albums alone shit on most labels’ catalogues…

@IMAGROWNASSMANWITNOHOSE: Thanks for the heads up, checking them now.
P is a gentleman. Always a pleasure to hear his work. I remember the Low Budget set he did outside Wax Museum Records, dutching up the tunnel. From the Stealth days to now, he’s been world dope. I wish him luck for the future…
