Five and half months late, here are the forty best rap songs from 2018 according to the Conservative Rap Coalition. Due to a recent influx in the Drum Free Rap genre and the sheer number of releases from many CRC stalwarts, we’ve really been spoil for choice. I’ll always choose a great beat before anything else, as I’d rather rock a strong loop with functional rapping than complicated lyrics over trash music.
As always, the only rule is a limit of one song per album.
Download: The Unkut 40 Oz. 2018 [Zippyshare]
Spotify playlist [minus five songs not available]
Track listing:
40. ‘Cold Crush’ [Bronze Remix] – Ghostface Killah feat. LA The Darkman, Chris Rivers, Ras Kass and Harley
Starks seemed to be going through the motions on the Lost Tapes album, but this Bronze Nazerath remix proved to be rather magnificent.
39. ‘Exotic Shit’ – Dave East and Styles P
This may be the only song from this Yonkers legend in the last five years that doesn’t mention his juice bar or fresh vegetables.
38. ‘Fear’ – Un Pacino
Hard White forever, die hard motherfuckers.
37. ’88 Mag’ – Rim feat. Illa Ghee
Dude from the Da Villins has a pause-worthy handle but Illa Ghee raps like a maniac on this.
36. ‘Miles On These Streets’ – Jamal and Haak Filmore
Ol’ mate from Illegal rapping over the same loop as P used on that Albert Einstein album is a good time.
35. ‘Venetian Loafers’ – Meyhem Lauren feat. Conway
Harry Fraud delivers the perfect tempo for the big fella who once drank me under the table at Neek The Exotic show in 2011.
34. ‘Leisure Wear (Sit & Laugh)’ – Superbad Solace
I went nuts over this timeless loop being brought back to life. Try the veal!
33. ‘GODS Don’t Bleed’ – Westside Gunn feat. Jadakiss & Benny
Great to hear Jada rapping over a Daringer beat.
32. ‘Moonshine’ – O.C. and PF Cuttin
‘I took a blues break and I broke it’, part one.
31. ‘The Games We Play’ – Pusha T
‘I was raised in Forest, across from Morris/I got more hair on my chest than Chuck Norris’, part two.
30. ‘Army Trucks’ – Eto and Nicholas Craven
From Coral Reefs to Army Truck beefs, Eto is pulling strings like Geppetto.
29. ‘212’ – Conway feat. Elzhi
Looks like I fucked up and let a Detroit rapper on here by accident, courtesy of this delightfully mournful backing track.
28. ‘Massacre’ – The Alchemist feat. Styles P and Benny The Butcher
Sometimes I like to dream about a world where Styles released an EP with Benny in 2018 instead of that guy who used to be in Black Star.
27. ‘In Thy Light We See Light’ – Estee Nack and Recognize Ali feat. Al.Divino
A couple of right miserable bastards if ever there were, bless ’em.
26. ‘Broken Bottles’ – Benny
I remember when I used to complain that there wasn’t enough violent, anti-social rap anymore. Now we’re positively lousy with the stuff. What a time to be alive.
25. ‘Chevrolet’ – Vanderslice feat. J-Zone
Who knew that a guy from the UGHH forums would one day produce a song worthy of the Unkut 40 Oz? This may also be the last rap that Zone records for a minute.
24. ‘Check It Out Y’all’ – Bumpy Knuckles and Nottz feat. Biz Markie
This is the closest I’ll ever get to enjoying a ‘light-hearted’ modern rap song.
23. ‘Colombian Neck Tie’ – Rome Streetz feat. Illa Ghee and Agallah
After much encouragement to check Rome out, this Ghee and Ag feature finally convinced me.
22. ‘Bundles’ – Royalz feat. Conway
I believe this gentleman is a fellow antipodean, and as such I must salute him for cooking up this most triumphant beat for Conway to vocabulary spill over.
21. ‘Flow Gods’ – Kool G Rap and 38 Spesh feat. Meyhem Lauren and Freddie Gibbs
I wouldn’t have guessed that this was a Pete Rock track at first listen, so it’s nice to see he still has a few new tricks up his sleeve after such an extensive career.
20. ‘Bundy and Sincere’ – Curren$y, Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist
Freddie’s manager was rather upset with me at some point for reasons I can’t recall, but now Mr. Gibbs is on two tracks on an Unkut 40 Oz., so cheer-up guy.
19. ‘B.O.B’ – David Bars
Showbiz has blessed this young man with some incredible tracks in recent times, especially 2019’s Bars and Beats.
18. ‘Kaos Outro’ ‘Wormhole’ – DJ Muggs and Roc Marciano
Gotta love these Prog Rock guitar licks combined with strings.
17. ‘The Feeling Of Winning’ – Willie The Kid
WTK can’t stop, won’t stop – and nor should he.
16. ‘Horizontal Chess Movez’ – Da Buze Bruvaz
Drinkin’ Beer Wit Prostitutez was without a shadow of a doubt the best name for a rap album in 2018, or any other year for that matter.
15. ‘Rare Form’ – Conway
After hearing him mentioned on this track, I was reminded that Berner is one of the most successful Weed Carriers of recent times. Dude started out holding bags for Wiz and now has sixteen albums under his belt! Take that, Memphis Bleek.
14. ‘Heart ov Hearts’ – The Doppelgangaz
Play this for ya girl on Valentines Day just for the mention of herpes.
13. ‘Stay Almighty 7’ – Knowledge The Pirate
This beat is everything as Marciano’s right-hand man gets busy.
12. ‘Love and Betrayal’ – Dirty Diggs feat. Agallah
This sounds like the soundtrack to a 70’s horror flick that never was, before flipping to a whole different format.
11. ‘Argo’ – Hermit and The Recluse
Animoss and Ka get as close as anyone’s going to get to creating a cinematic rap album, albeit a brilliant yet depressing art house film.
10. ‘Happy Endings’ – Roc Marciano
‘You sang beautifully just now’. Max B would be so proud.
09. ‘Day Of The Dead’ – DJ Muggs feat. Kool G Rap
Never count out KGR. Salute to Muggs for putting that fire in is belly on this one.
08. ‘Saltfish’ – P Brothers feat. Daniel Son
Not only will this beat inspire you to punch someone in the face, if you’re so inclined’, but it also scores bonus points for the Duck Tales shout out.
07. ‘The Risk’ – Agallah
Combine a new and improved version of the loop you may remember from Godfather Don’s ‘Seeds of Hate’ with the Ag Al Ghul persona and you have a what can only be described as Indiana Jones Rap.
06. ‘Torture Chambah’ – Da Buze Bruvaz
Clever One and Him Lo demonstrate everything that’s great about the Buze Bruvaz in under three minutes.
05. ‘Man Law’ – Masta Ace and Marco Polo feat. Styles P
Styles P is basically the unofficial spokesman for the Conservative Rap Coalition at this point, so hearing him over this outstanding Marco beat is most pleasing.
04. ‘The Bronx’ – A.G. feat. Diamond D and A Bless
Diamond’s verse here is amazing, as is the guitar lick.
03. ‘Dope Pushers’ – Illa Ghee feat. Rim
This hits that same nostalgia nerve that Ghee’s ’90’ previously tapped into, and as a result I had it on loop for a week.
02. ‘History Unfolds’ – Black Thought and Salaam Remi
A Tonka tough break that doesn’t get the chance to wear out it’s welcome.
01. ‘Consigliere’ – Roc Marciano
Proving once again that all you need is a great loop and a rapper to do it justice. Job done.
Wait nearly 6 months for this then to find out Zippyshare is now blocked in the UK…..Bollox
@Andy Kimber: That’s some bullshit. Which bootleg fileshare service should I upload it to for the UK CRC division?
Rob, I’ve been using this site:
Uploadfiles.io
I think Zippyshare has been blocked in a few European countries as well as the U.K.
Cheers Mart, I’ve added a link with them as well.
Many thanks Robbie.
Use a proxy. Just Google proxy site then use the browser on the proxy page

not really feelin agallah, pusha t, conway or styles p…
no love for driz lo?
could it be that the roc marci/muggs track you put on your compilation is “wormhole”? btw, I prefer “aunt bonnie” or “shit I’m on”…
did you listen to g.o.d. 3 & twiz the beat pro “quarantine”?
@kool max power: Serves me right for only having an ‘advance’ version of KAOS.
Not one riddim deserving a skip.
Just rinsed this on the flight back from somewhere. Flow Gods is just that Gods’ Flow
Always look fwd. to your 40oz picks. Good looks!
Nice to see some semblance of normality around here..
re: Detroit rappers, surely you were down with M.F.911 and Ced Gee? Certainly the most enjoyable for me…
The Flipmode leftover is like DOOM except without the personality….or bars.
that “chevrolet” joint is too good
the johnny dangerously 88 magnum reference is also highly appreciated
Nice one, thanks Rob.
Super clutch throwing it on a Spotify playlist. Lots I missed on here by the looks of it, hype for tomorrow’s ride now. Much respect as always!
