The Search For The Worst Rap Album Ever: Twitter Feedback Edition

Posted on January 26, 2018December 23, 2019 by Robbie Ettelson

There were some quality suggestions in my Twitter feed after the original post dropped last week, not least of which was introducing me to the great Chuggo and Trent Dean (aka The Rappping Magician). Well played to all involved.

. @unkut I promise you, this is hands down the worst rap album of all time. However, it’s rare, and I don’t recommend tracking it down to find out. pic.twitter.com/OOza9EQsMV

This dude was supposed to be next up on Flipmode. But offbeat rhymes don’t do it for me. Even Busta couldn’t save this mess. pic.twitter.com/s7gKHQlPkm

Album has a guest verse by immortal technique. It’s one of the most unlistenable albums I ever sat through

Everything that was wrong with gangsta music is on this album pic.twitter.com/iZqVUHXLrC

I was just about to nominate a couple of things myself, then I saw Chuggo & realised not only has my bar been set too high but I just can't compete with the level change that Chuggo represents

— Zero Dark 40 (@Zero_Dark_Forty) January 22, 2018

@unkut Craig Mack, Group Home (lyrically, an abomination), Bobcat, Kane's 4th album, The Afros.. all duds.

— andrew kay (@compboy1972) January 22, 2018

@unkut impossible to find the worst rap album ever made cuz its somebody who we've never heard of that has some shit sitting in a box in his basement that's the equivalent of refried shit sandwiches and acid enemas that we'll never hear.

— bottle o henny!! (@hennybottle) January 22, 2018

Surely it’s V.I.P. By the Jungle Brothers???

— Shafi Malik (@ShafOne) January 22, 2018

Bobcat’s ‘Cat Got Ya Tongue’ has to be the most stinking pile of burning used nappies I ever purchased and makes the K9 Posse LP sound like ‘Critical Beatdown’ in comparison https://t.co/sEyKAFyMWG

— Mask of Norro (@MaskOfNorro) January 22, 2018

does Eric B solo album count?

— ceedouble (@ClaudioContini1) January 23, 2018

Smooth Ice.

— Toast WRPI (@ToastWRPI) January 23, 2018

Rev Run’s solo effort needs a mention

— Trizzy Gillespie (@BlackXList) January 23, 2018

Every Eminem album post Slim Shady is unlistenable. Even the Slim Shady LP gets tedious after a few songs. Few catalogs have aged worse.

The wackness has to be weighted on the previous dopeness of an artist/album, if it applies! It’s the only way to distinguish the massive fails and falls from grace compared to amateurs…

  2. PEET says:
    January 27, 2018 at

Bobby Jimmy & The Critters – “Hip Hop Prankster” is my nomination.

I realise he was a “parody” act – but after 4 albums you gotta wonder why Bobby Jimmy and the Critters were still going…..

  3. Robbie says:
    January 27, 2018 at

@PEET: Comedy albums have no replay value as it is, and if it’s a comedy record that isn’t even funny the first time? Nope.

  4. Ben says:
    January 27, 2018 at

Alot of these I’ve never heard of but thats a first on 5th Ward Juvies well it might not be CRC music it is a dope album if you like that early mid 90’s southern sound.

  5. opi says:
    January 27, 2018 at

    chuggo is dope.
would rather hear him than kweli any day. no joke.

  6. sharprza says:

I’m noticing a disturbing trend here, that I have/had too many of these tapes, and after defending Redhead Kingpin I must now stand up for Smooth Ice. “Do It Again” some of that classic queens NY shit dont front dunnie

  7. ilango says:
    January 27, 2018 at

First thing I thought of when I saw this post yesterday was Icy Blu. You can add Jesse Jaymes to the list too.

  8. Robbie says:
    January 27, 2018 at

@Ben: Most Rap-A-Lot stuff until the mid nineties is actually CRC approved.

  9. Kafka says:
    January 28, 2018 at

Re: Rampage – Scouts Honor. Have to respectfully disagree. Album is decent, production was nice. Not the best MC but damn, it’s got “Wild for the Night” for God’s sake!
That Trent Dean and Chuggz shit is horrifying..
Re: Group Home… the production was amazing enough to look past the rhymes.

  10. otis says:

  11. Dino says:
    January 28, 2018 at

I’ve just found that Chuggo joint on my harddrive and, for one horrible moment, feared I’d actually paid money for it. Thankfully, it’s just a 128kbps download. Phew! Anyway, I see all these suggestions and raise you Kool Keith’s “Total orgasm” albums.

  12. Bruised Wayne says:
    January 28, 2018 at

    Cloak’N’Daggar (Canibus & Phoenix Orion) “Defcon 0”

  13. Paul H says:
    January 29, 2018 at

@Kafka – Definitely agree with you on Rampage. It’s really not that bad. Not an amazing MC, but some decent production, and yeah, fucking “Wild For The Night.”

And lyrically challenged or not, Livin Proof by Group Home is classic, no question.

  14. Paul H says:
    January 29, 2018 at

Maybe not on par with the flaming dumpster pile featured above, but damn, Tha Alkaholiks’ XO Experience is 95% hot garbage. I’m all for groups trying something different and all, but man, it just DOES. NOT. WORK. And Tha Liks made three superb albums before that! Such a let-down.

As far as KRS, Sneak Attack was beginning of the end for me. Massively disappointed when I got it right after it came out. As much shit as the Diddy remix got (and that god-awful rock song), I Got Next still had joints. Sneak Attack foreshadowed all the mess of his work over the next couple decades.

I haven’t heard it, but I assume that Red Bandit album from 1990 or thereabouts is a hot mess.

No mention of Arsenio Hall’s painfully unfunny Chunky A album?

He didn’t release a full-length, but this dude Lavar is DEFINITELY in the top 5 for worst rap release ever. Crazy corny white kid who went after Vanilla Ice with “Vanilla Melt” who ends up making Ice look like G Rap in comparison. According to YouTube, he now does terrible corporate rap events for old white folks looking for timeshares or some shit. It’s BAAAAAAD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgufrn8FXmQ

Rampage’s album is a good album! Got several of dope tracks.
And can’t believe people are talking about Krs-one & Alkaholiks!!! Not that those albums are great but compared to some of the shit that has been released, they should never be mentioned!!!!
