Nobody beats the Biz!
Not a single mention of “Me & the Biz”? For shame! That damn puppet rapped better than he could.
Gotta love the Biz, but after the just a friend album, all his work was on some celebrity shot.
Shout out to dj doc rodriguez for bringing out the ill bass on the album.
The diabolical Biz Markie in full effect if you ever disrespect disability checks you will collect
I Need A Haircut and All Samples Cleared! both have some excellent stuff, especially in the production department.
Much respect to the Biz! Always having fun. He never took himself too seriously, even though he came from such a respected crew. I will never forget him passing that booger ball to BDK. A true hip hop character!
#UnpopularOpinion Biz Markie is annoying as heck. He’s more appealing as an idea than in practice. At least ODB/Easy-E/Bushwick Bill mostly confined themselves to guest verses and hooks. Biz Markie has a horrible habit of outstaying his/the joke’s welcome. “I need a haircut” is a good album but as a rule, a little of Biz Markie goes a looooooooong way.Obviously, other opinions are available.
@ Slappy White Biz wasn’t on Me & The Biz that was Masta Ace rapping as Biz that’s why Biz wasn’t in the video. Check Robbie’s interview with Masta Ace.
You got to love the Biz.
The Biz vs The Nuge is great as well
The ’88-’89 Biz is definitely everything that I miss in hip-hop nowadays. Incidentally, I just made some dope ass hoodies with Biz on the front and the slogan — “Reagan is the Pres, but I voted for Shirley Chisholm!” across the back. If anyone wants one, hit me.
@KapiKap__Don’t forget Paul C’s engineering was all over “The Biz Never Sleeps” LP too.
@jloco187um: Right, like I said, that puppet. Ha, nah just kidding, I love Masta Ace.
I know that Ase One was imitating Biz on that track. Any hip-hop fan worth his salt knows that. But the Biz puppet is a legendary hip-hop icon in it’s own right, and no post about Biz’s career would be complete without it.
A few favs:
Big Daddy Kane – “Just Rhymin’ With Biz”
De La Soul – “Stone Age”
Nas – “Understanding”
Biz Markie’s solo albums are essential and criminally slept on. It’s not fair that he is branded as this jokey guy. He used some of your favorite loops first.
@Chahlee Chace – Like that insanely dope Yvonne Fair loop on “Check It Out.”
