I enjoyed the G-funk era of west coast rap but the pre G-funk sound was the cream of the crop. I liked how it had the hard east coast sounding drums but the samples gave it a west coast feel.
The “Sickinnahead” album by Threat which was produced by DJ Pooh and The Boogie Men is one of the best albums to ever emerge from the west coast. It doesn’t get documented enough and often gets lost in the shuffle when it comes to the 1992/1993 time that it was out.
I read in an interview somewhere that the addition of a couple Trackmasters beats wasn’t the only change made to “Live and let die.” Apparently, the album bares little resemblance to the beats submitted by Sir Jinx.
@Dino: I’d love to hear the original if that’s the case.
The chastisement album by sir jinx was one of the most disappointing things I ever bought
