Not sure on this robbie, i think it pretty accurately describes a production style, similar to how trap does- the fact that it is largely geeky white people that are interested in the style of production now makes it a bit geeked- i think ill still use boom bap or until u got something better than “real hip hop with loud drums” that acclaim site is gayer than a wang in the coight- unkut 4 lyfe bruh!!
Boom-bap does sound out-dated imo…
..Didn’t u say a while back the term ‘hip-hop’ should be banned also?
@Gx: Two words: Beer money.
@lou: Nah, I think I was complaining about dudes getting butt-hurt about the word ‘rap’.
I agree with you, it pigeonholes newer artists such as Roc Marcy, Action Bronson etc. as being throwback because they’re not using trap or southern style drums, when its really just good rap.
i get the point but i like the term.still better than random rap.
Can’t kill “Hip-Hop”, can’t kill “Boom Bap”.
BTW, Robbie, I tip my hat to you. You got real busy this month. Keep it goin’…
No Country For Old (Rap) Men – Can We Bury The Term Boom Bap Yet?: http://t.co/d4zDG1JT < ‘Random Rap’ can also carch a dirt nap.
I’m cool with the catch-all term Hip-Hop (capitalised, of course.) Rap is cool, too. In related news, Robbie, I recently learned that the term SWAG was coined by closeted gay men in the ’60s, the letters standing for Secretly We Are Gay. Holla..
So the question is now what are we gonna do, stain our publicly seen boxers, when the Blast Master KRS1 drops the sequel or is it the pre-quel, rightfully named the return of the Boom Bip…
