Ha so I’m not on my own then. .. have felt the same way struggling to find something interesting about these artists.
Only exception for me is guilty who I have found only passable at times In The past but his last one with katalyst Production I am really enjoying (must be a Sydney thing).
Actually the one who is missing from that list to me is Kendrick. Does that mean you give him a pass?
Yeah cosign the whole list. Dull as dishwater rappers.
I’d add skyzoo to this list cause he rap well but he’s got the personality of a cucumber
You should do one for producers as well. A lot of these guys are making 3rd rate golden era beats and getting critical acclaim.
And I thought I was the only one who thinks Badazz is underwelming. Im his biggest hater. Nothing he says moves me. I don’t see the hype.
Oh yeah, the list is pretty accurate.
HAHAH! Good choice of pic!!!
Swap Royce 5’9 for Kendrick and this list would be 100% accurate,to me anyway.
@oneam: Nope. Anyone who raps with wacky voices is automatically disqualified from CRC consideration.
I was actually looking forward to that pryme album but after a few listens it seems disjointed, messy, and not heading in any particular direction. And royce needs to drink less coffee or something.
Expecting to see Illa Ghee on the other list (approved current crop). I know he’s been around a long time but been checking him lately on youtube and always impressed.
Interested to hear your views on that Afro kid too – throw back style that may be too generic for CRC but again I’ve enjoyed what I’ve heard of his music. (Although his flow is just like someone else from the 90’s that I just can’t put my finger on).
I agree with most entries in that list. Guilty Simpsons does have some really good tracks and guest verses, but overall he is very “meh”. I can’t pinpoint it exactly because he can rhyme and got lyrics, but he mostly sounds boring to me. After reading the entry about ScHoolboy, I partly agree. He does rely a lot on his production, ad-libs and his unusual style. Not the best rapper, but he makes good tracks IMO. I don’t listen for the lyrics to him.
