Download: A Salute To Rap Parodies

Posted on June 9, 2022August 3, 2023 by Robbie Ettelson

Allow me to introduce a rag-tag bunch of rappers delivering parodies of well-known rap songs, piss-takes of ‘gangster’ rap and even taking the mickey out of their own image.

01. J.O.B. – Prince Paul

The only P.S.K. remake worth it’s salt.

02. U Mean I’m Not – Black Sheep

Sounds like Dres is having a cot-damn asthma attack at the end of this. Now that’s acting!

03. Slaughtahouse (Murder Mix) – Masta Ace

This skit proved popular enough to be turned into a full-length version on the single, proving once again that ‘More Bounce’ can never, ever lose.

04. Drink Old Gold – Mr. X & Mr. Z

Mr. Z went two rounds against Mikey D the year that Mike won the NMS Battle for World Supremacy, but all he had to show for his efforts were some free 40’s.

05. Bo$$ Hog Malt Liquor – Bo$$ Hog Barbarian$

St. Ides Rap Ads – The Next Generation.

06. Who’s On First – Royal Flush

You want old school? The Royal Flush Posse take it waaaaaay back to 1937 with their take on this Abbott and Costello routine.

07. Sweat Of My Balls – CB4

Daddy-O and Hi-C make mincemeat of G Rap’s ‘Talk Like Sex’.

08. Boomin’ Granny – Beastie Boys

Second best Beatsie’s song after ‘Honky Rink’.

09. Fuck Me Now – Willie Dee

Willie Dee makes Kool Moe Dee’s dancefloor hit a million times better, thnaks to his unique ‘Country and Westren’ (sic) technique.

10. My Peanuts – Ice Cold

Pretty much just Too $hort’s ‘Party Time’ with faster rapping.

11. Fat Bitch – 50 Cent & G-Unit

Curtis manages to improve on De La’s Rap and Bullshit effort ‘Baby Phat’, which wasn’t much of a stretch really.

12. Afro Connections at a Hi 5 – De La Soul

Just might be the best beat on De La Soul Is Dead, with an intro that really came back to haunt them by the time they did those AOI albums…

13. The Beef Is On – Big Daddy Kane

This song is pretty great for a ‘joke track’, courtesy of a tough guitar riff and Kane’s vocal stylings.

14. Cheesy Rat Blues – LL Cool J

Cool J really surprised me with this one, as he plays the part of a character who’s the polar opposite of LL on every other record he’d made at that point.

15. Hittin’ Hooks – Quasimoto

An X-Rated take on Biz’s ode to snot.

16. I’m Just A Human – Tone Def

The best PM Dawn jawn that never was.

17. Tha Bullshit – Jeru The Damaja

The usually humorless Dirty Rotten Scoundrel makes with the funnies.

18. Wack Itt (Extended Version) – Marley Marl feat. Roxanne Shante

The problem with making a remake of a bad song to diss the original artist is that your song is also going to be terrible. I guess that’s the joke?
