Not content with releasing one of the best hardcore rap songs ever made, Just-Ice aka Sir Vicious aka The Original Gangster of Hip-Hop went and recorded the almost as great part II which arguably featured better rapping but over a less varied version of the beat.
A decade later he decided to have another crack at the now legendary instrumental (possibly in response to Redman and K-Solo’s ‘tribute’) with the ’98 Remix for his VII LP on Warlock.
The Brooklyn Bad Man wasn’t done, however, as he brought back the song, albeit in title alone, for 2017’s The Just Ice Chronicles.
The good news is that after parting ways with Kurtis Mantronik after his debut and then reuniting for half of Girls ‘N Guns, the band is once again back together as this footage of a performance from earlier this year demostrates. Just-Ice denied ever calling Kurtis ‘a disco dreaded F-bomb’ in an old NME interview, but either way it’s good that this magnificant tune was able to bury whatever hatchet existed.

1st cold getting dumb was/is fire make no mistake about it….track lit up many a streets in NYC….one day in that era on block 2 in Williamsburg PJs the homie (rip) and I were smoking under the arch in a cypher and he blurted out he would battle justice…..whilst justice just walked by…..LoL to this day I remember how just spint back around and accepted the battle….we end up in the gym at Eastern district hs….. purposely tell just no writtens….we ain’t stupid fam lol…..my homie went first…..just spit that CGD2 verse…….did the “you lollipop liar” part and spat out the charms pop at my homies Tim boot….and it stuck right at the left big toe….looooool
