Da Buze Bruvaz – Ni$&@tivity album review

Posted on July 27, 2018April 18, 2022 by Robbie Ettelson

This might be the best project that these distinguished gentlemen have released – ‘Torture Chambah’ in particular has been in constant rotation all week. The limited edition run of 200 CD copies are available from here, as is the digital. Cop this shit!

Here’s a quick break-down of what’s in store:

1. ‘Shotgun Killaz’

This may or may not utilize a classic rock loop which shall remain nameless lest I inadvertently snitch them out. Clever 1 warns similarly-sized dudes that their garments are at risk when he’s around.

2. ’52 Blockz’

Flipping a familiar interlude break previously unearthed by C. Martin and Keithy E.E., Him-Lo reminds us the importance of coordinating your bubble goose and gym bag.

3. ‘Jeckyll-n-Hyde’

Verbal tag-team routine game is strong on this one. ‘My rap styles all gutter with a lotta scum!’

4. ‘Torture Chambah’

Best rap song of 2018, no question. This should be used as the blueprint for all future Conservative Rap Coalition auditions.

5. ‘Steam’

‘Your rap styles like non-alcoholic beer’. Salutes!

6. ‘Sinna Sity Pickpocketz’

Acronym time, kids! Him-Lo and Clever 1 are hear to take out the trash (Terrible Rappers Awfully Sounding Horrible).

7. ‘1988’

Some outstanding examples of Brag Rap can be found here over this thumping track.

8. ‘Double Action Portable Gatling’

Bonus points for the Super Lover Cee and Casanova Rudd reference.

9. ‘Asgardian Beer Mugz’

‘The Buze Bruvaz be belligerent, militant, we be a gone wrong experiment/Highly ignorant, scum bag degenerate’.

Vedict: The current reigning CRC champs continue to bring the ruckus. Outstanding.

These guys have the hardest album covers in the game. Adebisi was brilliant enough, but that little psychotic from City of Gods is even better.

  5. Ross says:
    July 28, 2018 at

The version of Adebisi Hat I have has terrible mixing or whatever so the bass is distorted and is basically unlistenable in the car. Is that the only version?

Buze Bruvaz baby My only Thing is why those ridiculously small prints? That Just seems to feed those discogs scumbags. Besides that I’m a do whatever I can to get a physical copy of that shit

  7. Slappy White says:
    July 28, 2018 at

@Pete Concrete: It’s marketing bullshit. It reminds me of an interview with Westside Gunn bragging and boasting about all his releases selling out in minutes. And then the interviewer asked how many pressings of each release were made, and Gunn said “Like two or three hundred.”

  8. Dino says:
    July 28, 2018 at

@Slappy White/Pete Concrete. I’d suggest the limited CD runs are, first and foremost, for the same reason Disney aren’t releasing “Avengers: Infinity War” on VHS. I like CDs and will only support acts who put out CDs but most people these days stream/download.

  9. Big ReSpekt says:

Ain’t no marketing bullshit LMAOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! I wish we could move those 200 in an hour TRUST!!!!!! Still wouldn’t be bragging about it like the others you mentioned do……..We do physical for those who really want them. That’s it……..All Niche audience shit and word of mouth promo outside of sites like this ONE, SALUTE Robbie! Limited to make sure those folks move their feet and grab em. We are a mini indie label who ain’t worried about pressing up a thousand copies of an album to have em sitting around……Adebesi moved a few hundred physical…..over time. Kept selling out. I’m glad these cats have value on their work. We gonna keep pushing out more and more and getting better at doing it. Appreciate all who copped already…. This one is moving and the feedback has been excellent. Da Buze Bruvaz are in a league all their own…….No sleepy time beats with no drums and spoken word raps……All hardbody shi!!!!!!. Blessed to have em on the label…….There is no one else in HipHop moving like these 2. Watch out for the next one, They Ain’t Slowing up!!!!!

@Big ReSpekt: wish you would do professionally manufactured cd’s instead of those cdr stuff … don’t get me wrong, I bought most if not all physicals you ever released, but I’m not really satisfied when I open a cd and notice it’s a cdr … and Ross is right, the mastering on “adebisi hat” is awful … giallo point did a much better job on the vinyl pressing…

  11. Dino says:
    July 29, 2018 at

@Big ReSpekt: Hmmmm, is this true? Have I just paid $24.50/£19.31 for a CDR? It doesn’t say it’s a CDR on bandcamp. I feel it should say it is a CDR if that is the case.

  12. Big ReSpekt says:
    July 29, 2018 at

    @Kool Max Power and DIno,

First off appreciate all interest and support. That’s why I’m taking time to even build with y’all here.

The first Adebesi went out as it was received. Like I said new label and new manufacturing(learning). To even get that out took a lot. I’m glad Chopped Herring was able to mix and master that for the vinyl. Due to the amounts (smaller amounts ordered) for Adebesi, cds in general they were CDR. I guess I should clarify but haven”t needed too because folks are mainly interested in the music but point taken. The Quality on this album (physical) is a lot better.

Another point is that cds as physical products are disappearing. You’ll see some niche artists or people with large followings pressing up official cd’s. Those start at 500-1000 units. Otherwise we’d have to turn into these folks out here selling $30, $0 cd’s out the rip.

So all points taken go to GrilchyParty.com or hit me direct if it’s a issue. Bottom line is that even with what y’all saying the response has been overwhelming and people want more. I’m just happy to even see these brother get listeners. It been years of getting to where we even having this discussion, LOL.

  13. Dino says:
    July 29, 2018 at

@Big ReSpekt That didn’t answer my question. Is the album for which I’ve just paid nearly £20 a CDR?

  14. Big ReSpekt says:
    July 29, 2018 at

    @Dino

Yep. I said it in the answer. SHort runs are FULL COLOR CDR. If you want a refund let me know and I’ll handle it ASAP!!! SHIT BANGS and I only have a handful left so I can use it. email me direct. [email protected]

    Peace!

  15. Slappy White says:
    July 30, 2018 at

@Big ReSpekt: Thank you for taking the time to make those responses. I like Da Buze Bruvaz. Adebisi’s Hat was great. I’ll definitely support this release.

  16. doughjoe says:
    July 30, 2018 at

honestly what difference does it make if it’s burned or pressed

  17. Dino says:
    July 30, 2018 at

“what difference does it make if it’s burned or pressed.” I can burn my own CDRs for pennies. If I’m paying full retail price for something, it’s not unreasonable to expect it to be professionally manufactured (unless stated otherwise).

  18. Pete Concrete says:
    July 30, 2018 at

@Big ReSpect Thanks for takin time to respond. Respect. That’s some realness right thur. I do understand u point w small prints. Adebisi did sell out fast. So that was my only concern if there would be any psychical copies left when payday arrived lol I love everything Buze bruvaz do! Not many of there type left in hip hop. I don’t care if it’s CD R since I really wanna, support the artists when they are as underground as the Bruvaz. I had no issue with the sound on Adebisi I expected the album to be real grimy anyway lol My only critique really is that on both Adebisi and Ni&$@tivity there’s tracks on thats been floating on Soundcloud for years. But the new album is Solid!! Best album yet imo

  19. Pete Concrete says:
    July 30, 2018 at

@Slappy White I hardly see the Buze Bruvaz as the marketing strategists lol Westside Gunn, Fahim etc that’s a whole mother story. Another generation, another way at looking at sales strategies than BB I’m pretty sure. If BB was like that I think they’d chose another way than waiting all these years for CD sales on MarQ Spekts label (I think it’s his anyways lol) Griselda and Fahim spit out product every single week almost. Him Lo & Clever 1 seems to be working in there own lane in a tempo they choose Not any smartass BS w these guys. They the real shit!

  20. Slappy White says:
    July 30, 2018 at

@Pete Concrete: Fair enough, I was lumping them in with the likes of Griselda and speculating on their marketing practices.

As for the album itself, it’s great. But on first listen, I think I liked Adebisi’s Hat a bit more. I’m not sure yet.

  21. WiCkEd22 says:
    July 31, 2018 at

Peace. I pre-ordered my CD copy a couple of days ago… lookin forward to gettin it. I too prefer a professionally manufactured CD over a CD-R, but at the same time any physical copy is better then nothing. I assume Chopped Herring will be handling the Vinyl for this one? I really hope so. I own all the other Buze Bruvaz releases on CD and Vinyl.

Btw, I love this comment… “Da Buze Bruvaz are in a league all their own…….No sleepy time beats with no drums and spoken word raps……All hardbody shi!!!!!!.”

Haha! I fcukin HATE that no drums and spoken word bullsh!t.

you want to take more money away from an artist just so you can feel good about a manufactured CD instead of a burned one? with no discernible difference in quality or longevity? do you also make sure your vinyl from these mostly broke ass dudes to be 180 gram and mastered on DAT? that’s dumb.

  25. doughjoe says:
    August 3, 2018 at

@f my name: don’t bother with wicked, he probably still calls dj premier’s radio show to piss and moan about dumb shit nobody cares about

album slaps.. I really hope the site I preordered it from actually sends it. They keep pushing the release date back on the site. I was hoping yo have my shit by now. I copped Adebisi hat from bandcamp. Shoulda just went that route again.
