How about “Rap Faggot”?
Nah
Nah
THIS GUY IS FOR PEOPLE WHO EITHER WERE NOT AROUND FOR THE GLORY YEARS OF “LYRICAL” HIP HOP OR JUST WANT EVERYTHING TO SOUND FROZEN IN TIME LIKE SOME NAS CUTTING ROOM FLOOR SCRAPS. BASICALLY HE IS JOEY BADASS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARENT SUPER STONED AND HIS COMMITMENT TO PUTTING OUT MUSIC IS ABOUT AS PAPER THIN AS ANY RAPPER IN RECENT MEMORY. I AM NOT A HUGE FAN OF FIFTY CENT OR KENDRICK LAMAR BUT THEY CAN BOTH RAP CIRCLES AROUND THIS GUY AND HAVE HAD A HUGE IMPACT ON THE CULTURE WHEREAS HE HAS HAD NONE.
Nah
This was my review of him as he supported Shabazz Palaces and Flying Lotus in London, last year:
Jay Electronica came through as a late replacement for the elusive MF Doom, who was on the billing (and encouraged many to buy tickets; to be fair the promoters offered a refund at this last stage). Jay sounds much like Common- dull and worthy; tried his best to be energetic and thuggish, but it felt forced and corny. J Dilla got another worthy eulogy. I use the word ‘worthy’ with a tinge of irony and sarcasm-most of the audience didn’t give a toss about him when he was alive. He managed to upset the security, allowing around 60 audience members to flood the stage, looking like a Freshers party. Skinny Jeans Posse got their 5 minutes of fame and looked like dicks doing so. Still, I’m sure the Instagram photo looked suitably geeky. ‘Exhibit C’ rounded off a half hour of Jay (Rude Boy) Electronica finding his inner gangster to an audience that would have shat themselves in Brixton twenty-five years previous. I didn’t buy it for an instant, especially with Jay’s odd politics, his odder private life escapades and being as dull as others’ of his ilk. Maybe Common should make a record called, “I saw the thug in you (It was at the Brixton Academy)?”
Who?
Needs to give up, I quite like just blaze beats, so happy if they release an instrumental version of his lp.
dick slipmat spits it real again.
Just drop the album, already, damn…
In the immortal words of Mrs Merton, I wonder what first attracted him to multi-billionaire heiress, Kate Rothschild?
Hmmmmmm….
He should, at the very least, speak less. He stutters…Doesn’t sound nearly as intelligent as one might infer from listening to his lyrics. So nah son…nah.
Cunts a nuff-nuff
you are all off your heads. he’s a good if not excellent mc. he just needs to release something
I would never compare Jay to Joey Badass, I think Jay is a much more polished M.C. but he can’t fuck with the catalog that Badass has so far. His early mix tapes were fire but Jay Electronica gotta put out some work.. Right now he looks like a jerk.
Who? Never heard any of his stuff or is that because he doesn’t put anything out? Nah all the way! Justify the hype!!!!
