Legend producer!
Yup!
SHOULD HAVE INCLUDED OPP!
No YZ ‘Thinking Of A Master Plan’ Robbie? big tune that when it dropped at the Jam.
Grand Poobah Tony D & Kool Gino G – it’s my day
is also a dope Tony D record, gets overlooked but it came out in 1987.
I always admired how he had his own sound, you could more or less tell a Tony D production from other records back in the day.
Tracklisting is heavy. ‘Music Makes You Move’ is my favorite Tony D joint.
His drum sounds were distinctive from other beatmakers and producers, a rarity these days.
Tony D must hear a continuous loop of “O.P.P.” every time his head hits the pillow at night.
@Carlos: Maybe in the past tense, he passed away in 2009.
Good stuff my G.. He had some joints with B-Fyne.. “Peppermint” was a nice “summer in the city” joint.
Way off the subject but in the right place for a request….
Do you remember the dude Baby Sham who was with Busta Rhymes Flip mode Squad? He was from Queens and really the only other one worth listening to in that group. Although I did like Lord Have Mercy mostly for the voice. Anyway could you put something together on Baby Sham. I think he ran with Killa Shah at one point. But I can’t find any other music on Sham. Thought maybe you could since I know you like that Queens rap as well. Dude was nice.
@Robbie I had no idea. Tragic. Such a talent.
Tony D. was one of the best. I agree, you could always distinguish one of his tracks from the rest.
Nice retrospect Robbie. Cant please em all. Do you know if Tony D produced Reggie Reg’s Presence of the past 12?
“trenton where we live” – almighty & kd ranks
wow Scott Lark. tony laced him
As a DJ from Trenton, NJ I want to salute Unkut for this jewel. I knew Tony personally and got to know him better right before his tragic death. I made a best of The Poor Righteous Teachers Mixtape showcasing his talents. Thanks again. SALUTE!
I’m surprise you didn’t put Adams Nightmare on there, but still a good mix though.
“Yet another example of how important New Jersey has been to the rap landscape.”
Let’em know.
Glad u included when the road is covered in snow. That was always a favorite of mine.
Actually always thought the kwest hermans head joint was ill too but did not Realise it was a Tony D Production.
What a great salute. I got the YZ album back in the days but I admit to sleeping on Tony D’s other work. I’m now busy trying to find the Crusaders album for less than £15.
R.i.p to one of the most underrated producers the game has ever seen glad to see someone remembering him
pls re-up
Hey man, would you mind re-uploading this one again?
