It’s great when rappers can maintain a high standard through out a long career with no noticeable decline in quality. It’s even better when they markedly improve as they get older, as demonstrated so brilliantly by the late, great Sean P.
No Country For Old (Rap) Men: The Chosen Few – Rappers That Get Better With Age

No mention of Pharoahe Monch?! He’s probably THE most criminally underrated emcees. He stays perfecting his flow.
c’mon son, what about A.G of DITC?!?!
Guru, from No More Mr. Nice Guy to DWYCK was a steady rise (pause).
MF DOOM – Zev Love X to now
Esoteric – Space rappist to Czarface
Jean Grae – calmed down to a more confident flow
Large Professor – Maybe not better, but he sounds better over everything lately
E-40 – refined, very raw on early 90s LPs
Common – so glad he dumped that double time scat rap, ala Jay Z
Kendrick Lamar – K.Dot wasn’t wack, but I would never thought he would make albums like GKMC or TPAB
Mac Miller – firt half of his career he was trash, now very listenable and often dope.
Haha.. Wack Miller that was fun…
Tragedy Khadafi!
Fat Joe
Breezly Brewin and Freddie Foxxx.
K Dot and Mac Mill??? WTF U on Enig Mue??? we talking rapper who’s gettin’ better by the years not snotty teenagers/newbies!! A.G. 4 sure!!
Scarface rules this category … Jay Z got better too, from running w/ Jaz to going solo
AG is terrible now.
Cosign on Tragedy.. Ka and Roc Marci are great mentions too. I also agree with Pharoahe.. Royce da 5 9 is a better rapper now than he’s ever been. Sean Price was definitely one of those guys as well. He will be greatly missed. Black Thought is inhuman.
Ha Ha did ceedub mention Fat Joe???? you are kidding right, his first 3 albums dope as fuck, the rest of his career has been awful at best
Masta Ace. Started off good, did the Slaughterhouse project having half the gangsta rappers rocking it without knowing they were getting spoofed. Keep reving it up late 90’s through the 2000’s. Flow definitely got more clever and intricate with a lot of quotables. Art’s & Entertainment in 2009 with Edo G was a 5 star album.
Brotha Lynch Hung, his recent trilogy was quite dope
