To compliment the Flavor Unit Oral History I did for RBMA, here are my sixteen favorite tracks from the first generation of Flavor Unit MC’s through to passing the torch to Naughty By Nature for the second installment. Before anyone asks, no that 900 Number album never actually got released but apparently featured new verses from Latee and Chill Rob.

Worth it for Court is in Session remix alone. Cheers Robbie, another winner
Great work as ever Robbie. I’m still puzzled by what Latifah sings in the chorus of Wrath of my Madness.
I think its cost of living getting higher so we’re here to run away queen latifah getting higher we’re here to run away
great comp for a great crew. thx robbie.
dope selection.thanx.
Excellent picks and what a posse they were. Thanks Robbie.
You’re right Timeo, thanks for the lyric info. It could be the start of “a salute to MCs that sing their own choruses”.
SMH you guys are acting like classic albums are beyond critique, and because you feel like you can sit and be a critic and tear something down it means it’s not a classic.
Every classic album had it’s faults, Every classic album had people who wasn’t fucking with it. I know people that have never fucked with anything from Thriller to Illmatic to Cuban Linx, do these couple of assholes opinions lessen the stature and importance of these albums? No!
The other thing is, Compton isn’t made for the tastes of the majority of readers of this site. It’s not a old school regional or current internet based boom bap classic that’s just about finding wack dollar bin records to sample and rapping about rap. Compton is a classic album period and encapsulates so much more than boom bap ever could.
There’s influences from many sub genres of Hip Hop as well as other genres of American Black Music mixed in with just straight Hip Hop. The genius of this album is that everything is harmoniously mixed into one cohesive and seriously dope project.
I’ll say it again, the “People” have already deemed this a classic album, and I mean people in the broadest sense here. Go check what everyone is saying and the convos everywhere about this album. The shit is beyond and way out of the hands of “conservative” Hip Hop fans.
lol WTF I must have hit a back key or something the above post wasn’t meant for here
Cost of livin gettin to ya continue to run away Queen Latifah gettin to ya continue to run away
