Raekwon’s long-awaited new album is here, after what seems like years of hype. Is it that official tissue or some old punk smoove shit?
01. ‘Intro’
Faux British accent customs agent informs The Chef he needs a new passport. Gripping stuff.
02. ‘4 In The Morning’ (feat. Ghostface Killah)
A perfectly serviceable RAGU track.
03. ‘I Got Money’ (feat. ASAP Rocky)
Beat sounds like a poor man’s Scott Scorch re-heat, but without all that sweet, sweet yayo.
04. ‘Wall To Wall’ (feat. French Montana and Busta Rhymes)
Getting sleepy…
05. ‘Heated Nights’
Is that dude on the intro from New Zealand? Maybe it’s David Dallas from Duck Down.
06. ‘F.I.L.A. World’ (feat. 2 Chainz)
Tity Boi was a far superior rap moniker. Maybe ‘Fruits and Tea’ should be the name of the next Odd Future LP.
07. ‘1,2 1,2’ (feat. Snoop Dogg)
An interesting flip of ‘Ike’s Mood,’ if nothing else. Yeah, actually there is nothing else.
08. ‘Live To Die’
Proper story-telling mode and a good beat, thank Big Baby Jesus.
09. ‘Soundboy Kill It’ (feat. Melanie Fiona and Assassin)
The snare is loud, and the hook is 100% struggle Rhianna Plane. And apparently we’re doing that ragga guest shot thing again.
10. ‘Revory (Wraith)’ (feat. Ghostface Killah and Rick Ross)
Heh, Rae said ‘duvet’ and then Ghost says ‘fluffy Polo towels in Melbourne.’ Meanwhile, Rawse delivers the best verse of the album.
11. ‘All About You’ (feat. Estelle)
This is something that Bruno Mars would rub one out to. Nullus to infinity.
12. ‘Nautilus’
The usually reliable Scram Jones trolled me on this one, as it contains 0% Bob James. Rae sounds like he’s just reading random words off of a piece a paper. Isn’t this meant to be his ‘official’ album?
13. ‘Worst Enemy’ (ft. Liz Rodrigues)
The fuck is this bullshit? Bring back Blue Raspberry!
Verdict: Three good songs out of twelve does not for a good ratio make, I’m ready to tear up Raekwon’s CRC membership at this point. F.I.L.A = Forever Issuing Lame Albums?

Damn, this confirms what I feared when I saw that tracklist…I miss the days when I could cop an album from a Wu member without listening first and knew it wouldn’t disappoint.
Figured as much from the guest appearances and how Rae kept saying he’s going in a different direction and keep up to the Times. Never a good thing..

Forever Issuing Lame Albums…damn, Robbie, lmao…
” Rawse delivers the best verse of the album” – Robbie
Hahaha…there was a time when I went on record being more excited for FILA than ABT …That time period died when I put ‘ Pioneer The Frontier ‘ in the whip and rode out …I decided to ride out when Raekwon revealed the track/feature list to FILA.
Problem is, Rae was never suppose to be a solo artist. Somebody told him wrong info. Good for verse or two, good for group projects, but can’t deliver solo without some direction.
Aw man just when 2015 had strong releases coming out.
Err’time Rae try to establish self other than Wu he fall hard so I ain’t surprised. That beat with A$ap on it is jelly though, don’t front sun.
The title was so promising. Might have to check this out just so I can wrap my head around what some of these collaborations might sound like.
I didn’t have a good feeling, when I saw that corny winged statue on the album cover.
Rae suffers from a lack of self awareness.
@Blobby I wrote the entire project off when I saw the cover as well.
@Wil E Wil Totally agree with what you said. Just sounds like Rae is spitting the same verse on whatever track he is on.
All i know is that Pic of Ice Tee and Crew Fila Down is staight up Gee Shit…PURE CLASSIC Material right there. Ill hear the album for myself don’t trust reviews, most of the time its some cat with no soul at all.
I listened to the album. It was alright. Not as bad as you’re making it sound. That said it’s not album of the year or anything. I agree Ross’ verse was dope that beat sucks though. The track with Rae, Ghost and Ross from Shaolin vs Wu-Tang bodies it….that whole album was just way better.
“Might have to check this out…”
Every one should check it out and decide for themselves.
Don’t get your hopes up….in life, in general, you’ll only disappoint yourself.
Why can Wu just hang it up already once Ghost started losing steam I knew it was over.
Album is fucking dogshit; worse than even Ice Water– remember them? Witless fat fuck is a how long a losing streak now? Yeah, let’s do it Rae’s way… Shaolin v. Wu Tang… Wu Massacre… now this.
In the history of black music generally and hip-hop specifically Rae should be paying US reparations for pretending this crap is worthy anyone’s time or– hah hah– money.
I have to admit, this album is growing on me.
