For the past three years, a guy in Miami has been fooling tourists with claims that he’s Harlem rap legend Spoonie Gee. Hopefully the guys who have filmed his antics give him a Newport loosie or $5 for his troubles, since he may or may not be homeless despite still managing to rock a different Ralph Lauren polo in several of the clips. Here is the story of Fake Spoonie Gee, according to shitty iPhone footage:

I just met him last night an 2nd street near biscayne. He may not be the real spoonie gee, but he a damn good freestyler. He had me fooled. Bought him a pizza.

I can’t believe I’m just seeing this now haha. I used to kick it with this guy in Overtown Miami and I always knew it wasn’t the real spoonie cuz I caught him on a couple lies throughout a few weeks but his story was basically air tight and I wasn’t gonna blow up my dudes hustle! I can honestly say he’s a decent dude and a very positive cat (especially since we were junkies in the worst hood in Miami at the time). Def hope dude is in a better place now than we were then! The guy is still around in Downtown. Washes cars sometimes to earn some cash. He is a cool dude. Not sure how well he is doing, he finds a way to make it.
