Goddamn I can’t even be mad at that. I stopped following diddy on twitter once I realized that it was just another marketing avenue for ciroc & to promote the corny ass rappers on his label. Diddy has his role in the music industry & its not like he didn’t work his ass off to get there (other than milking biggie’s career). Indeed those who have a degree in player hating haven’t done much to tarnish his business empire & perhaps need to focus on their own grind. Also his character in Get Him to the Greek was fucking hilarious.
“Harlem kingpin Hollywood Nicky in the slapstick comedy Carlito’s Way: Rise To Power, or as record mogul Sergio Roma in the crime drama Get Him To The Greek” I see what you did there.
I have to agree with article I’d rather listen to any of bad boys late 90’s, early 2000’s music over most of that backpacker Rawkus garbage from that era sans a few exceptions.
should’ve filed this under “bullshit revisionist history”..
No doubt Puffy has had a hand in some really good moments in Hip Hop, but there are too many instances where he should’ve sat his azz down and just stayed true to his “I write the checks” mantra. Since I do own both of B.I.G.’s solo albums I have to own up to my part in lining Puff’s pockets, but that’s it for me when it comes to anything Puff related.
Ahhh, still gotta hate that guy, it’s “princi-balities” in this…
Rawkus all though not great was alot better than bad boy as a rap label. I do enjoy the production values on bad boy records but really they had the biggie albums, black rob, I nvr heard the g dep one. Lox album was shit though they went on to do some good things. Mase was shithouse and brought in a 1000 rappers who just sound boring and talk quietly in a speaking voice. Rawkus got the best out of artists like mos def, his first album was pretty good then he went on to become a major flog. Internal affairs was good even if it became a poster album for backpackers. mighty Mi production was strong at that time though mr eon ruined most of it. All up I’d say bad boy after a great start was shit and deserves its reputation. As for puff as a actual rapper? I think nostalgias clouding reality.
There’s no mention of Sean Combs being a great rapper in that piece.
Just my 2 unwanted cents. By the time I got back to this page the page with the article on it was a little hazy in my memory anyway.
