Ha! “gospel rap hell” ..Soon as i seen Brother Ali name up here i knew the review would be harsh..Check out his “Shadows On The Sun” album, Robbie..It’s way less ‘sing-songy’ and actually a decent LP imo.
How can you not get Ali?!? He makes the music we wish Cube was making now
Yeah I don’t know why you’d bother subjecting Robbie to anymore brother Ali. Some shits not for everyone. Ice cube? Wtf?
..On another note, what promoter would book BOTH Sean P and Ali for the same show?! Hopefully the Ali crowd made it thru the night safe & sound lol
haha, pale rider, lol. I used to not like brother ali, then i liked some of his stuff, now i’m back to not liking him anymore. He was homeless once, is a muslim, and now I know he’s legally blind. the facts about brother ali are more interesting than the rapper unfortunately. His freestyle is impeccable though, I heard him spit a free at a mystik journeymen, living legends, murs & atmosphere show and the guy was good, real good, of course he called Los Angeles-Sacramento or San Francisco or San Diego or some shit, which was met by boos and jeers, but his freestyle stuck in my mind as something different, fresh and new. I haven’t really listened to dude much since his undisputed truth album back in ’07. Sounds like I don’t really need to either with all that preachy shit, I don’t like music to preach to me.
Man, I’ve seen Ali open for Ghostface and Theodore, so..
Harsh review of Brother Ali, but I’m not surprised. I wouldn’t expect him to be your cup of tea. I’m really surprised that was your first time actually hearing him, though.
