The 40 oz. – 40 Great Rap Songs From 2010

Posted on December 28, 2010August 5, 2023 by Robbie

Having recently scraped myself off the floor, with a barely functioning liver and severely depleted bank account after a two-and-half week birthday/Christmas bender, I thought I should perhaps make a half-assed attempt to assemble 40 rap songs that didn’t induce nausea or feature any of Lil Wayne’s weed carriers. Basically just a lot of stuff that I posted over the year and a few things that slipped under the radar. Complaints to the usual address…

no offense to Sean P, but snow pt2 was wack. he hyped up his feature and he was dry. He wasn’t up to his usual Sean P skills. But Roc killed it, but thats expected from him.

Definitely better than I expected. I only had to delete about 1/3 of the tracks from my hard drive. It’s great to see which veteran artists have a true love for hip hop. There’s no money in the rap game anymore, so anyone doing it now is doing it strictly for the love.

I’m not THAT impressed with your list, Robbie. Don’t get me wrong, most of it’s dope, but there’s plenty of songs that I feel were left out.

Also, it appears that a lot of your list are songs that are available as mp3 only (which is fuckin LAME). I personally don’t support stupid mp3 only releases… AT LEAST PRESS SHIT ON CD!

  18. Chulee ManSun says:
    December 30, 2010 at

The Gab Gotcha track also appeared on his 2008 CD “Hustler’s Pray”.

@Wicked: It’s a fuckin’ ‘Best Of 2010’ list, nobody really cares if shit was pressed on vinyl, CD or other shit, except for you.

  19. Shaun D. aka Wicked says:
    December 30, 2010 at

@ Chulee ManSun, Really??? No one cares??? The people who dont care are the mp3 loving faggits who don’t even matter anyways. The true heads care, trust me. The fuck am I gonna do with some lame digital file??? Nothing. I need the real thing…

“The fuck am I gonna do with some lame digital file???”

    1. Listen to it.
    2. Decide if you fux with it.
    3. Look for it in a place that sells the real thing.
    4. Buy it.
    5. Fuck yourself in your own face.
    6. PROFIT

While I don’t have huge issues with the actual picks, the omissions are stunning.

The Left’s Gas Mask is easily one of the best albums of the year. If you don’t think so, you either haven’t heard it or don’t know hip-hop. Either way, its a ridiculous omission not to have several songs from the album.

Plus, you have ZERO from The Roots amazing LP ‘How I Got Over’ (how is this possible???) and Big K.R.I.T.’s stunning debut LP ‘ K.R.I.T. Wuz Here’. Hurts the list a lot when you consider the glaring joints/artists that are missing. No Jay Electronica, no J. Cole, no Shad K? You definitely have a lot to listen to before you should make a best of 2010 list.

    @donaleski “an amuse bouche” lol

btw Robbie I’d like this free music in midi format and/or in the form of paintings done by an inebriated spider monkey that painted his feelings on canvas while listening to the music on the list. 40 spider monkey paintings for your next post plz, you better get cracking. I believe the monkey likes 40 oz bottles with a side of banana chips. Word to Bubbles.

What’s up y’all, here’s my “2010 Hiphop Year In Review Special” from my Hiphop radio mixshow a couple of weeks ago. For just about 4 hours, I spun most of my favorite joints from 2010 that were released on vinyl or cd. And as always, all songs were spun on two 1200’s and a Rane mixer with songs on cd played on a Sony cd player with pitch control. Enjoy…
