Here’s one you might have missed – a T La Rock exclusive for the first volume of Fresh Records‘ The Rap Pack compilation (you’ve gotta love those dope Gnome characters on the cover). While it sounds like a typical Mantronik production, it is in fact the handywork of a young Quincy Jones III (aka QDIII), who also produced Special K’s “Special K Is Good”.
T La is at the top of his game here, and while his “friends call him Terry” you’ll be calling him the new sire after lending an ear to this supreme display of intellectual brag rap. When this shit dropped, T La Rock was the shit as far as I was concerned. Reminding us that his comp are as boring to him as “watching re-runs of Scooby Doo and Jabber Jaw” and rating himself as “eleven minus one”, the Lyrical King delivers another timeless performance that still slaps suckers silly to this very day.

Apparently. He’s been talking about it for a while, I’m not sure what stage it’s at though. Last I heard he was still recovery from his head injury after he was mugged a few years back.
I have The Rap Pack on tape. Mantronix was my favorite group in the mid 80’s. Hip Hop truly had a huge impact on me at that time. I miss those days.

T La rock the lost tapes came out on vinyl around 2000 or 2001. Production was not that good but lyrics were still top notch. I didnt know mc tone wrote half the lyrics on lyrical king, Just found that out the other day.
