A young Dave Chappelle cracks some funnies for The Source‘s Punchline column back when House of Pain were considered “cutting edge” and “X” hats were a must-have item.

Maybe it’s just that it’s all in the delivery, but I’m thinking Chapelle got a lot funnier later in his career. Nice post!
What ever happened to Cloak and Diaper? I bet that was a hot one!
those are just his old stand up jokes from when he was a teenager
^^im about to google it right now lol
cloak and diaper got changed to ‘undercover blues’..them jokes was corny esp. coming from someone like chappelle
ha ha that was a lil piece of gold right there…
thanks Rob Nat
when i was 12 i thought those jokes were pretty funny. 1st time I ever saw chappelle was on Teen Summit a couple years be4 that article in the source. He was a kid when he wrote those jokes…
Damn! I think I remember that issue! Damn, I remember when The Source was the bible!
LMAO @ Dougie (sic) Howser.
Obviously, this is weak, old material from a very young Dave. However, with Chapelle, more than just about any other comic out ther, it is all in the delivery. He was a funny inflection, and funny mannerisms.
It ain’t all that different from rap, actually. Material is only part of the equation.
