Wow! This is an interesting change of styles, to say this least! this sounds muuuuch different from his work with rakim! Well, anyway, not so bad, although I’d have to say the tune in the second video is probably the winner here!

To be fair, it’s not much better/worse than what Eric puts his name on nowadays.

    /watch?v=eRPqJ5pfNy8

Notice I said put’s his name on.

Watch this pathetic performance on Yo! MTV Raps where he moves the record back and forth for two minutes:

Robbie, when are you going to do a “most useless/worst DJs in Hip-Hop” article?

You’ll have to put youtube.com in front of those URLs because the software running Unkut seems to filter URLs.

Yo Eric gots to eat if this is his production. What a difference from having one of the roughest Rap singers to this here stuff. Eric B is way to laid back for me anyway. I knew when these cats(Rakim & Eric B) was first put on. The buzz at the time was that Rakim the God could have and should have done better than Eric. Cats around the way was saying Eric wasn’t rough enough for the God. Cats wanted Rah to put on this dude named Omar Phips. I know Phips he retired a lot of legendary DJs back in the day. He turned the mix/segue into a 2 to 3 minute event,What people call the remix today. Phips was the first DJ to actually take two records and make a new one out of it; similar to sampling but he did his thing live without pitch control. Phips was around the corner from “JVC Force” & down the block from “TJ Swan and the legendary Biz Markie.” At the time mad music was busting in the area. I don’t know why no one put Phips on to this day, he was the hottest DJ of that era to be overlooked. I should know. I brought DJing to the area as Grandmaster Flowers’s protege…

Man, he lost a lot of weight, got the Michael Jackson disease, and learned japanese. It’s nice to see he’s still reppin NY though. I gotta say these beats sound like leftovers from the BDK Prince of Darkness album.

  19. gx says:

is it japanese? seems like indonesian or some shit to me. Why am i listening to this dude again. I must be fucking losing it. That wierd flute sound in the second beat: how do you even find something so cheesy. Must be of a babys toy or some shit.

    Cosign:
    “most useless/worst DJs in Hip-Hop”
you could call it the “DJ SW1 Awards” in tribute to that hi-top faded loser from “In Living Color” who faked it till the cows came home.

    Contender list:
Stud Duggie and/or Alamo (who ever did what?),
or those two Canadians from Main Source (did they produce the Mikey D/Main Source stuff or was that an outside guy?).
The cheese-necks from both PM Dawn and Arrested Development

and if were going for guys who flat out can’t scratch technically at all (couldn’t do anything but rubs really and maybe cut out the line-switch every now and again):
    Terminator X
DJ Polo (went from G Rap to Ron Jeremy, whoa now)
Tom Morello (oh woops that would be a stupid motherfucker guitarist who said he played like a DJ, BTW WTF wif dat? seriously)
How ’bout good DJs used shittily?:
DJ Swamp for Beck, he’s dope as fuck, but for Beck, what did he do?
A-Trak for Kanye–shoulda teamed up for a double suicide
I dunno I’m sure yer list would be way superior Robbie

  25. haroon says:
    January 28, 2009 at

    Here’s my list:

    1) Eric B.
    2) DJ Alamo
    3) DJ Eddie F
    4) Hurricane (Beastie Boys)
    5) DJ Polo
    6) Moe Love
    7) Marley Marl (as a DJ)
    8) The Second Spinderella
    9) DJ Yella

  26. otonokimam says:
    January 31, 2009 at

And yet, although both of these songs suck, this Japanese/Indonesian rapper still has a better voice and flow than 96% of the so-called ’emcees’ currently dominating the hip-hop industry nowadays.

Rakim’s creativity, vocal presence, body of work, flow, and lyrics would have sounded much more superior if a cut/crossfade/transformer/scratch master like Jam Master Jay (R.I.P.) or DJ Jazzy Jeff had been on the turntables instead of Eric B, IMHO. But that will always remain a foolish, childish pipe dream, and no amount of hoping, wishing, and praying will ever make it a reality.

That guy Eric is working with right now (Avion) couldn’t shine the god Ra’s shoes (having Jadakiss on the hook earns him a few extra points in my book, though, but definitely not many).

Yup… B has inarguably/unquestionably/undeniably sunk to new lows nowadays (he truly started digging a hole for himself when he posted lies about his current living situation on Wikipedia).

WHOA! “U MY GIRL” AND “RAIN” HAVE GOT TO BE TWO OF THE GREATEST HIP HOP SONGS OF ALL TIME! THEY RANK RIGHT UP THERE WITH “RAPPER’S DELIGHT,” “THE BREAKS,” AND “JAZZY SENSATION (BRONX VERSION)” AS ABSOLUTE CLASSICS! THE VOCABULARY, ARTICULATION, CREATIVITY, ORIGINALITY, AND VERSATILITY WERE JUST INCREDIBLE! IN TEN YEARS, KIDS ARE PROBABLY GOING TO REMEMBER THOSE RECORDS ALONG WITH SUCH OTHER DUMB-DOPE-DEF-HYPE-CHOICE-SMOOTH-RAW TRACKS AS “THE MESSAGE,” “IT’S LIKE THAT,” AND “IT’S YOURS!”
