Sean Price exemplified everything that the Conservative Rap Coalition stands for. He was a fan of self-depricating humor, blocking people on Twitter for the slightest of infractions and refused to catch buses since they’re basically for old people. He was also one of the few MC’s who managed to improve with age. As much as I enjoyed the music of Heltah Skeltah, I can’t quote a line from either of their first two albums from memory. Sean P solo, however, was a cot-damn quotable machine. I saw him perform twice, and both times he delivered a strong, no gimmick display of great rapping. The first time in Melbourne, backed by PF Cuttin, and then at S.O.B.’s in 2013 for the Statik Selektah album launch. Later that evening Dallas Penn introduced me to Mr. Price, who appreciated my firm, man-style handshake and kept it moving, just as it’s supposed to be.
We salute Sean P for his unwavering dedication to rugby tops and polo shirts, his staunch refusal to ever let his verbal blade become dulled by the passage of time and for reminding the world that Brag Rap is still the finest form expression available to us on this tiny planet. His passing on Saturday is a sad day for hip-hop, his friends and especially his family. I like to believe that the best way to honor the memory of the big guy is to man-up and not mope around like a bunch of pussies. Sean Price didn’t play that shit.

There was a time when I liked Rock’s rapping better, eventually I feel like Ruck eclipsed Rock’s ability. And we always have Songs in the Key of Price to look forward to. R.I.P.
THIS DUDE WAS PROOF THAT A RAPPER COULD STAY RELEVANT WITHOUT JUST BECOMING A PROFESSIONAL COMPLAINER (SEE FOR EXAMPLE STAKES IS HIGH ERA DE LA SOUL) OR A SLAVE TO TRENDS THAT THEY REALLY WERENT DOWN WITH (IF YOU ARE OVER 30 AND HAVE RAPPED UNIRONICALLY ABOUT GETTING “TURNT” THEN I AM TALKING ABOUT YOU). DUDE JUST GOT BETTER AND BETTER AT RAPPING AS TIME WENT ON.
WE SALUTE HIM AND WISH HIM A PEACEFUL JOURNEY.
I agree that he became better as a solo artist but he had plenty of memorable verses on the first two Heltah Skeltah albums either way R.I.P. Sean
Such a great loss: as a person, a father, a real emcee. Blessings, Brother. You’re gone too soon.
Damn…
Not very often that a 20-year rapper is better in the second 10 years of his career but it’s definitely true for mr. price. Most of the post-black moon BCC music was boring but solo Sean shined bright. R.I.P
Nocturnal was incredible
21gun salute ruckus!
one of the last true spitters.
with a persona larger than life.
got the most quotables in da game.
may he rest in power.
u will be missed.
P!
Glad I got to show the man the props he deserved face to face before he departed this mortal coil.
Always showed those onionheads what’s his name.
R.I.P. to “the brokest rapper you know” for giving us a wealth of quotables
P!
Loved his rapping since the opening track off Nocturnal. He was more subdued back then and really made the group work.
R.I.P.
Shock of the month.
“when you bury my body…please don’t bury my soul” P! RIP.
WTF!!!! He gone to??? I saw him 2 years ago in Copenhagen. Only one hour but it was intense man Me and my girl where right beside him on this small stage the entire time. He is the only one I did get away with flirting w mygirl man. What a big loss for hip hop and the world I cant believe this ish
Sean Price congratulated me for getting on unkut and then blocked me because he said he aint into giving out compliments. A powerful moment in my life. He will be missed.
RIP Top Notch all the way. New York really dead at this point. that Meyhem album better be a classic!! Plus everyone needs to support n cop that Sean P when it drops. I’m broke but I’m getting doubles for sure
Co-sign gstatty. Rock has the ill voice that made him stand out more in Heltah Skeltah but Sean stepped his bars way up I’m the last 10 years or so. Good to see him getting this live now but I hope he doesn’t end up Dilla, overrated to death by lames who didn’t have a clue who he was when he was here. Rest In Paradise, P…
*in the last…, getting this love now…

Rest in P!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Cole James Cash, hahaha, you’re the 2nd person I know that was blocked by P!
R.I.P Sean Price! Just one of those figures in the culture that was truly one of a kind and just all around humble and down to earth…. Monkey Barz is a classic IMO
The 2010 DuckDown Tour started in Tampa FL, and I had a chance to see Sean Price and the entire DuckDown. Like most Shows in Tampa, very small crowd, but very loud, Sean Price seemed disappointed cause the crowd was small, I remember him saying he felt like he was on the “Chittlin Circuit”, we cried laughing, but he performed in typical Sean P fashion! We in the Chittlin Circuit salute you brotha, Rest in Peace!
Robbie you really need to post PF Cuttin’s Sean P tribute up for the CRC fam to rock. Over 2 hours of mostly unheard cuts…. R.I.P P
