The pair came up together as teens and forged a strong brotherly bond through their 14+ years of shared interest in the Hip Hop culture. Local veterans such as Lazy Grey and Lyrical Commission proved to be inspiration in the Australian movement which opened a niche for the two up and comers. “I haven’t heard two emcees sound as cohesive as these two since the likes of EPMD” Say’s the iconic Melbourne Emcee/Producer Trem One.
In 2007 with the addition of DJ Stricknine and a decision to join him at Class A records, the group’s first relative success resulted when their recordings began to appear on various local Mixtapes, but ears really started to prick as the team gained widespread acclaim with outstanding live support slots behind several overseas artists including: Lord Finesse, Planet Asia, R.A. The Rugged Man, The RZA And Necro. In 2009 they completed and released their street mix tape, Trails to the Underlair: The Prequel. A combination of jacked beats and original production which attracted widespread appraise and secured the benefit of supporting Brooklyn’s M.O.P on their “Foundation” National tour throughout Australia.
All the while KK kept busy in the booth and the eventual release of 2013’s “The Campaign”, saw a successful Extended Play that dropped on WAX, CD and Digi formats that included production from associates Prowla (Nuff Said), Trem-One (Unkut) and enlisted the vocal expertise of Lazy Grey, Brad Strut and MF Grimm.
Returning from almost two years work in the studio, Kings Konekted have found a new home at Unkut in 2014 and are finally prepped to unleash their long awaited Debut Album “Corrupted Citizens” on the label. Best described as a monumental opus of mood altering lyricism set against a background of specifically selected production, the LP acts as an audio film account of the group’s trials and tribulations throughout their personal victories and struggles. Dontez, the group’s Emcee and Producer explaining “this project has been a huge chunk of our lives documented through the form of Hip-hop and I hope heads can feel the honesty and sweat we buried ourselves in to make this”.
